One of the most popular questions visitors ask is how the name Kill Devil Hills in the Outer Banks of North Carolina came about. The origin of the name is a source of legends. One legend suggests that during the colonial period, the only surviving cargo washed ashore from a shipwreck was a brand of rum named Kill Devil Rum. Another version of local lore alludes to the pirates, buccaneers and swashbucklers who inhabited the area sat on the dunes drinking a liquor “strong enough to kill the devil”
In the spirit of pirate legend and rum history the idea to produce a rum right here in the Outer Banks took hold. Kill Devil Rum Distillery is now located downtown Manteo, NC in a historic building on Budleigh Street. Tastings and Tours will be available this summer. The owners plan on offering a variety or rums from white rum to dark and a spiced rum derived from pecan trees on the property. They will also have t-shirts, hats and other gear promoting the product. Kill Devil Rum will be available at local Outer Banks Restaurants and ABC stores for purchase. A visit to downtown Manteo is a wonderful way to spend your day.

"" 5/5 We loved working with Kelly. She was never pushy or put pressure on us to hurry and settle on a house. Since this was a second home for us on the Outer Banks, Kelly was always available to spend her weekends visiting any newly listed houses that interested us. She was diligent in following thru on everything dealing with the sellers, the loan and the closing. She also offered her opinion and expert advice whenever we needed it which I found very useful. In my opinion she made the whole buying experience perfect for us.""
